The understated Luberon red that became the staple to our family lunches.

Producer: Cave de Lumières, Goult, France.

Chateau Thourame is a noble Provençal fortification built in the 15th century near Bonnieux, on the northern side of the Luberon mountain. The vines grow at the property, as they have for years, in limestone and clay soil which retains water well. Traditional methods are used to make the wine, and it is then aged in barrels at the Cave de Lumières in the nearby town of Goult.

What we say: "With its sexy ruby colour, this red wine offers a burst of aromas including blackcurrant, blackberries and many of Provence's other autumnal berries. Thourame rouge is powerful, rich and comforting with subtle notes of spices, liquorice and pepper. With just the right amount of tannins, this is a well-structured wine. It has become our go-to red for Sunday roasts, and comes in nicely under £15"
