A classic full bodied Ventoux red with a clean and crisp twist from the mountain.
Producer: Vignerons du Mont Ventoux, est. 1924, Bedoin (Provence).
Les Vignerons du Mont Ventoux is a collective of growers and wine makers established in 1924 in Bedoin, at the foot of Mont Ventoux. They produce delicious and affordable wines with an approach that respects the terroir and traditions. Altitude 500 grows, as it names suggest, on the slopes of the mountain at an altitude of 500m where the nature, the terroir and the climate offer a lot of variation, sitting between the mountain above and the valley below.
What we say: "Altitude 500 boasts a bright ruby colour. Just like its robe, the nose of this wine is generous; red fruits are balanced with blackberries and hints of spices like nutmeg. On the palate, the full bodied nature of this red is delightfully offset by freshness and acidity, a reminder of the altitude where the grapes grow. The length of this classic Ventoux grenache and syrah blend is deep and complex but somehow crisp (very unusual for a 15% ABV wine!). This wine is perfect for those looking for an interesting and rich full bodied red wine that doesn't feel too heavy. And it's just over £16, so it won't break the bank either..."
