A refreshing wine-based apéritif from the Luberon with peaches from the Durance valley.
Producer: Distilleries et Domaines de Provence, Forcalquier, France
This peach liqueur is made by combining white wine with infusions and distillations of peaches and peach leaves. In the Provençal language, Rinquinquin means 'invigorating drink' (from the verb requinquer: to cheer up). The peaches and leaves are macerated separately in alcohol and wine in order to extract the soluble parts. At the end of the maceration period (six months to one year), the infusions are separated into two parts. The liquid part is added to the white wine and the solid part is distilled and then added.
What we say: "The perfect summer apéritif. Rinquinquin is refreshing, not syrupy, and bursts with notes of peach and citrus. With the right amount of acidity, the aftertaste is extremely pleasant and crisp. At 15% ABV, it’s not too alcoholic, so can be drunk long over ice, with tonic or sparkling wine. Rinquinquin can also replace vermouth to give your negroni a Provençal twist"
