An impressive and vibrant Côte-Rôtie, exuding elegance and finesse—a true masterpiece from the Duclaux brothers.
Producer: Duclaux, Tupin-et-Semons (Rhône).
The Duclaux estate, founded in 1928, is a legacy vineyard in the Côte-Rôtie appellation, situated in the steep, southern slopes of Tupin and its surrounding plots, including Coteau de Tupin, Bassenon, Collet, and Maison Rouge. Today, the estate is in the dedicated hands of the Duclaux brothers, Benjamin and David, who carry forward their grandfather’s commitment to quality and authenticity, focusing on minimal intervention and organic practices across their small, 5.8-hectare vineyard.
What we say: "The hallmark of Côte-Rôtie, this Duclaux blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier showcases the meticulous craftsmanship of this family estate. From its deeply coloured hue to the aromas of blackcurrant, redcurrant, and violets, it captures the vineyard’s spirit with precision. Smooth yet vibrant, each sip of this 2018 vintage reveals layers of spice, smoky undertones, and dark fruit, balanced by refreshing acidity and fine tannins. Produced in limited quantities, this wine remains true to the Duclaux tradition—pure, authentic, and brimming with the character of its Côte-Rôtie roots. An outstanding Côte-Rôtie offering remarkable value at under £50."
