Producer: La Chanteracoise, Saint-Germain-du-Salembre, Dordogne, France.
Made in the heart of the Périgord by La Chanteracoise, the last traditional artisan biscotterie in France, these little toasts are prepared using methods inspired by French bakers of the 1950s. The dough is first baked into soft loaves, then carefully sliced and baked a second time until golden and wonderfully crisp. Made with French wheat flour and a handful of simple ingredients, they contain no preservatives, artificial colouring or palm oil. Their light texture and delicate flavour make them a lovely alternative to ordinary crackers, equally at home alongside a savoury apéritif or something sweet.
What we say: "We absolutely love these little toasts! They're rather like miniature French biscottes, incredibly light, with a wonderful crunch that doesn't feel too hard or heavy. We serve them with our tapenades, aubergine spreads and pâtés, but they're just as delicious with butter and jam or a generous spoonful of chocolate-hazelnut spread. They're so versatile that we always keep a packet in the cupboard. And unlike fresh bread, they're ready whenever you need them. An essential for any apéro!"
Why we love them:
- Traditionally double baked for a light, crunchy texture.
- Handmade in France's last artisan biscotterie.
- Made with French wheat flour.
- Suitable for savoury and sweet toppings.
- No artificial colouring, preservatives or palm oil.
Ingredients: Wheat flour, non-hydrogenated coconut oil, sugar, baker's yeast, salt, barley malt.
