“Les Cailloux Dorés” takes its name from the golden stones that cover the vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, shaping a wine of depth, warmth and quiet power.
Producer: Cave de Gigondas, Gigondas, France
The Cave de Gigondas brings together growers working across some of the Rhône Valley’s most distinctive terroirs. Châteauneuf-du-Pape remains one of its most celebrated appellations. From the south-eastern part of the appellation, this cuvée comes from old vines planted on soils of rolled pebbles, sand, clay and limestone. These sun-warmed stones help the grapes reach full maturity while preserving a natural balance. The vines, some between 50 and 90 years old, produce fruit of remarkable concentration and depth.
What we say: "A Châteauneuf with both depth and quiet power. Built around grenache with a blend of traditional Rhône varieties, it opens with notes of black cherry, blackberry and liquorice, layered with hints of garrigue and warm spice. The palate is ample and textured, with a generous core of fruit, fine tannins and a long, composed finish. A wine that carries warmth and structure with ease, revealing itself slowly with each glass."
• Colour: red • Grapes: grenache, syrah, mourvèdre • Region: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhône, France • ABV: 14.5% • Vol: 75cl
Layered and structured Deep and expressive
