Vintage Biot Green Bubble Glass Bonbonnière

Beautiful large bonbonnière from the celebrated Verrerie de Biot, hand blown in the distinctive bubbled glass for which the Provençal glassworks is known. The softly rounded body sits on a pedestal foot and is topped with a generous domed green lid and spherical finial. Its rich green colour catches the light beautifully, while the tiny bubbles give the glass the lively, imperfect character that makes vintage Biot pieces so distinctive.

Story: Found in a brocante in Apt, Provence, in August 2026.

Condition: Very good vintage condition with light signs of age. The bubbles, small variations and irregularities within the glass are characteristic of its handmade manufacture. Traditionally, a bonbonnière is a lidded jar used for sweets or bonbons, although today it works equally well as a decorative piece.

Estimated era: circa 1960s to 1970s.
